2025 Annual Neusiok Trail Hike

Saturday - January 18th - Sunday 19th

UPDATE: Event has been cancelled due to weather.

Join us for our Annual Neusiok Trail Hike!!

The NBOAC’s annual Neusiok Trail adventure has always been a great opportunity to shake off the stress and extra pounds of the holidays ,stretch those legs and get back in the good graces of mother nature!

New for 2025 – A change from past hikes – Overnight hikers and day hikers will start at the Neusiok northern end - Pine Cliffs Equestrian Trail Head and head south to the Oyster Point Campground parking lot.

DAY ONE:   Saturday January 18th.  We'll meet at the Pine Cliff Equestrian Trail Head parking lot at 8:00 am and hike to the Dogwood Camp shelter (located off highway 101 trail head). This gives the trip a very nice hike on the first day through mixed hardwoods and pine on a well tended trail. (Occasional horse apples). This segment of the trail provides a few easy jumping off points as well. From the horse parking lot to Dogwood Shelter is an easy 6-8 miles.

DAY TWO:  Sunday January 19th.  Step off time for overnight and day hikers will be 8:00 am from the Dogwood Shelter located about a mile from the Hwy 101 Neusiok Trail Head. The group will then head south for approximately 12 miles and complete the hike at the Oyster Point Campground parking lot. This segment of the trail is a longer moderate hike with sections of wet terrain.

Each hiker will be responsible for their own equipment and food, and will need to be self sufficient. Remember, there is NO water at the shelters (the pumps have been removed). Plans will be made to have extra water available to hikers at Dogwood Shelter. Note that sections of the Neusiok trail can be wet and swampy – good quality hiking boots or trail runners is highly recommended.

Day hikers are free to join us for any portion of the trip; day hike Sat, Sun, or both days. Hikers will be responsible for their own transportation to the Pine Cliffs Equestrian Trail Head parking lot for Saturday's hike and Hwy 101 Neusiok Trail Head for Sunday's hike.  Return transportation to hikers parked vehicles will be provided at the end of each days hike.

RSVP for overnighters is requested.  RSVP for day hikers is HIGHLY encouraged, but not required.

For more information or question please contact Zadock Dismuke via text at 252-259-5197.

In case of cancellation due to inclement weather conditions, updates will be posted on the NBOAC website and Facebook.

Friday November 8th - Monday November 11th

Uwharrie and Dutchman Creek trails

Greetings fellow saunterers!

Join us for a backpacking trip on the Uwharrie and Dutchmans Creek trails on November 8th thru the 11th. We will meet at the Bojangles parking lot in the town of Troy at noon on Friday the 8th.  If you want to eat, arrive early in order to get going to the trailhead as soon as possible. We will caravan to the trailhead on highway 24/27. From there we will begin our adventure. Daily mileage will be 5.27 on Friday, 7.60 on Saturday, 4.43 on Sunday and 2.75 back to the parking area on Monday.

This will be a fully self-supported trip. All hikers will be required to be self-sufficient; proper clothing and equipment for the weather, food, water, etc. If you need gear please let the POC know and arrangement can probably be made to locate what you're looking for. Our nightly campsites will be near streams and there will be water sources along the trail so filtering of some type will be needed.

This will be a backcountry experience so all 7 Leave No Trace principles will be adhered to.
